SHAI-OSUDOKU DISTRICT ASSEMBLY HOLDS GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO FORMULATE AND EXECUTE PLANS,PROGRAMMES AND STRATEGIES FOR THE EFFECTIVE MOBILIZATION OF RESOURCE.

The Shai-Osudoku District Assembly has held its 2nd Ordinary meeting of the 3rd session of the7th Assembly meeting at the Guggisberg Memorial Hall.

The District Chief Executive (DCE),Hon.FredOffei in a brief speech,assured the House that management would work hard to address the challenges faced by the district to achieve accelerated socio-economic development.

This,he said,was going to be possible through the support of members as well as the implementation of well-thought-outpolicies,programs,and projects.

He laid emphasis on infrastructure,security,agriculture,the Ghana Productive Safey Net Project(GPSNP),sanitation,finance,and the recommendations from the Executive Committee.

On the field of Agriculture,the Chief Executive stated that,Agriculture had always been the backbone of the district’s economy of which His Excellency,Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo had given much attention, through the implementation of a number of agricultural programs within the District.

He declared that 40,000 coconut seedlings and20,000 mango seedlings have been distributed to the farmers under the Tree Crops Development Authority(TCDA),as part of theExport and Rural Development Initiative(ERDI).

Concerning sanitation,he stated that the Greater Accra Regional Minister had deployed eighteen(18)city response teams to assist the District Assembly in combating traffic management andeducating communities on waste management practices.

He added that the team was mandated to ensure discipline in the district and support the enforcement of by-laws on the cleaning and greening of our frontage under the Operation Clean Your Frontage Campaign.

Touching on finance, the Hon.DCE stated that the capacity to implement the Assembly’s policies,programs and projects depends largely on revenue collected internally, which is a collective responsibility.

He then updated the house on the financial status of the Assembly for the period under review.

The DCE stated that the district has been free from any form of violence through out the year.

He then expressed gratitude to the security network for their invaluable contribution in ensuring and implementing effective measures towards providing the district with security.
