Five Students Receive Scholarship from Bost, Education Ministry.
Five needy but brilliant students in the Shai- Osudoku District of the Greater Accra Region have received scholarship packages from Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST) in partnership with the Ministry of Education(MoE).
This is in line with the two organizations noble vision and concerted aim of giving back to society through education.
At a durbar held at the forecourt of the Assembly, representatives from BOST and MoE officially embarked on a vigorous screening process to select the qualified students.
The chairman of the occasion, Nene Amanor Akrobetor expressed his enormous value for education as he stated his various roles and contribution to education in the District.
In his welcome address, the District Chief Executive Hon. Fred Offei extended his appreciation to the parties involved for finally making this dream of his a reality.
He said that when these students eventually graduate in some years to come, the District would be able to boast of having it own engineers.
The District Director of Education, Madam Harriet Lomotey added that the scholarship packages had come at a good time.
She said it was a mark of progress for not only the students but also the directorate.
The education director encouraged them to work hard when they finally receive these scholarship packages to be able to serve the District and the country as a whole, adding that the District will be given ten slots for students next time.
The Director for Corporate Social Responsibility of BOST, Mr. Yaw Dadzie explained that this scholarship scheme has benefitted several students from other communities that are directly impacted by their pipelines.
According to him, it was necessary that society enjoyed their work in one way or the other.
A representative from the Ministry of Education Mr. Abankwah also indicated that the initiative first started when the Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe saw the need to give self-sponsored scholarship awards to needy but brilliant students in his constituency.
He said when the MP became deputy Minister of education, he made it a nationwide program while partnering with some corporate institutions in the country.
In a brief remark, Nene Okukurobuo Tei Agyeman thanked the representatives and the District Chief Executive for the opportunity and advised the students to take the opportunity given to them seriously since it was one of a lifetime.
