Ghana Highway Authority Holds Stakeholder Engagement.

On Tuesday 3rd August 2021 the Ghana Highway Authority held a stakeholder engagement with community Members at Doryumu in the Shai-Osudoku District of the Greater Accra region.

The meeting forms part of consultative processes ahead of the construction of a 63.7kilometre road which would meander its way through the town.

The GHA is implementing the road infrastructure project in fulfilment of the Government vision to upgrade the existing 2-lane Eastern Corridor Road(ECR)from Ashaiman roundabout to Akosombo junction which represents the National trunk road No-2(N2) in the trunk road network in Ghana.

This starts from Tema roundabout in the south and ends at Kulungugu, the northern-eastern border with Burkina Faso.(EASTERN CORRIDOR ROAD, LOT.1:UPGRADE OF ASHAIMAN ROUNDABOUT TO AKOSOMBO JUNCTION)

In his opening remarks, the District Chief Executive Hon. Daniel Teye Akuffo welcomed officials of the Highway Authority to the District.

He said the project would serve to promote the socio economic interest of the people in the area and called for maximum support from the people.

He further stated that the Assembly would do it's part of the bargain to ensure that the Government achieved its public transport objective for the good of the people.

Engineer Luke Sengnefaare Dabour of the Ghana Highway Authority in his presentation outline the project status and resettlement action plans/process to solicit for their concerns.

He stated that the project involves the improvement and partial widening of the existing 2-lane road to a 4-lane and 6-lane carriageway at different locations.

He urged the community members to cooperate with the implementation process to enable the Government to achieve its goal..

He said the Project's construction width has been demarcated with pegs by the GHANA HIGHWAY AUTHORITY as a visual marker of prohibited areas so therefore urge with all community people not to remove the pegs.

Construction of the road is expected to begin as soon as possible..
