Shai-Osudoku District Observes "My First Day At School"
The Shai- Osudoku District Assembly in collaboration with the District Education Directorate and the District Health Directorate has paid a working visit to children attending school for the first time officially dubbed " my first day at school "and to welcome children back to school today.
The day was also used to observe compliance with the Covid 19 protocols which has occasioned the long absence from school and the change in the academic calendar for basic schools.
The purpose of the visit is also to motivate first- time attendants to stay in school through the provision of gifts that appeals to them and educational materials.
Items given out to the children include exercise books, crayons, pencils, erasers, biscuits and drinks.
At each of the schools visited, the team seized the opportunity to address the children in turns.
Addressing the entire school audience, the District Coordinating Director, Mr Frederick Akitty encouraged school authorities, teachers and pupils alike to feel free to discharge their educational responsibilities adding that government will supply all the necessary logistics to ensure their safety.
He urged parents to provide basic safety logistics for their children and not wait on government to provide for them adding however government will compliment their effort in the schools
The District Director of Education Mrs Elizabeth Awoonor-Williams thanked the teachers for their effort and advised them to adhere to the protocols at all times to ensure the safety of all in the school environment.
The District Director of Health, Rev. Ebenezer Asiamah demonstrated to the pupils the right way of wearing the mask.
He advised them to avoid pulling the mask to their chin, adding that it was better they took it off anytime they want to eat.
He said it was dangerous and wrong as it could contaminate the mask.
The schools visited were Odumse D/A basic school, Sota D/A basic, Methodist D/A basic among others.
