SODA Extends Distribution of Protective Equipment to Communities.
The Shai-Osudoku District Assembly(SODA) in the Greater Accra Region has embarked on an extension of the distribution of nose masks and sanitizers to more communities in the district.
The stated objective for the exercise carried out by the Information Services Department ISD) is to promote safety among inhabitants against the Covid-19 pandemic.
Furthermore, the exercise was to help inhabitants comply with the executive instrument that makes it compulsory for citizens to wear a nose mask.
The areas include Abonya, Sota, Odumse, Fiakonya and Berdai kope.
Interacting with some of the inhabitants, the District Information Officer of ISD Mrs Cornelia Asante-Obeng urged the beneficiaries to use the facilities to contribute their quota in the fight against the virus.
In an interview, she said the rate of infection in the district was very concerning to the Assembly, adding that it was for this reason the Assembly has taken the pains to freely give out the items to promote compliance.
According to her, citizens owe it a duty to themselves to compliment the efforts of Government at combating the virus.
A few inhabitants who spoke on record gave high marks to the Assembly and promised to support the cause by spreading the message to other inhabitants.
Some of the beneficiaries confessed to the ISD team that had the donation not arrived, they had no knowledge or means of acquiring them.
